Changing Our Future
Program applicants are high school sophomores from the Flathead Valley who are selected based on their interests and involvement in areas such as leadership and service. If accepted, students participate from September through May of their junior year, returning to finish the 2-year program their senior year.
With only 30 spots available annually, the Leaders of Tomorrow program is an extremely select group of promising students who are highly motivated and want to sharpen their leadership skills, as well as learn what makes their community tick.
This program is held one day per month to allow students to participate in leadership sessions which include tours, panels, and demonstrations in areas such as government, arts and culture, business and industry, civic and volunteer activities, law enforcement, and healthcare, and even includes a trip to Helena.
An example of a program session is Career Readiness Day. Human Resources professionals from the community volunteer to help students with resume writing and interview skills in the morning followed by formal interviews in the afternoon. Sessions like these give students valuable experience to prepare them for their lives ahead, “I feel more confident” said one graduate of the program, while another affirms, “it changed my life for the better”.
